The new version of the Particle Physics Simulator for Android is now out in the Market. The main new feature is the addition of background images to the simulations. Here’s how they work:
First, go to Settings and scroll down to the Background Image entry. Then, click on it and select the image you desire from your gallery/external storage. And yup, that’s all!
The images are conveniently cropped and scaled so that OpenGL ES can handle them. OpenGL ES only accepts square textures whose side length is a power of two, so what the app does is basically calculate the largest square-of-two-sided area that fits in the selected image and then crops it.
I just submitted a new version (v2.5.5) of the Particle Physics Simulator to the Android Market, so you should be receiving it shortly in your devices. This is a bugfix version:
- Fixed bug that prevented simulations in merger collisions mode from working properly. Thanks to Neil for reporting.
- Some minor performance improvements have been added that should make the simulator run more smoothly.
This is the first post of my new website. I will use it to discuss my various projects current and future.
Hope you enjoy it ;)

At last the pictures of Japan are up and public. I know it took more than expected, but I’ve been kind of busy arranging some priority issues like the new job or our fancy super good-looking brand-new flat (yes, we finally got the long desired and proclaimed new flat in Barcelona!!). Well, lets not get off-topic… For those of you who may want to check the photos, just hit the link.

The time to leave has come again. I’m leaving in three hours to Madrid, to take there an Aeroflot plane to Moscow, spending about twelve hours in the city to then take another flight to Tokyo, where Hokuto and Ikuya should be waiting for us. As I’m in a kind of hurry now, just want to say “see you later”, and remember, I’ll post the pictures of the trip as soon as I’m back in the 22nd or the 23rd.

Hello, I’m back again, so dont get confused if you see me around in Barcelona or Arenys! After coming back I can confirm what I expected: the thing I miss the most from Aberdeen are the long football afternoons we spent in Seaton (well, that and cheap deals involving Guinness or any other kind of beer in the Watering Hole). I’ve had quite a nice time indeed and all that comes to my mind when I think of Scotland is “wonderful”.
